Compelling Design

I enjoyed reading this post, and you have some great ideas/observations.

I think the lessons learned from how people interact on Facebook etc. can also be studied for corporate intranet purposes. A secure, private, corporate social network with the look, feel and functionality of a web social network would probably have a better chance of success - if it's not embraced and used by actual employees, it's useless.

The same will be true of the Members Forums you mention. Users will go to better platform for interaction when it's available (or discovered).
